Have you ever traveled
through Colorado and come upon an interesting
looking mountain road, and felt the urge to explore
and experience where it might lead? For more than ten
years the “Colonel” and the “Captain”
have explored the San Juan and Sangre de Cristo mountains,
mapping out routes through this astounding beauty, intimately
available via the “Back Roads.”
Based
in Crestone, Radical Travel offers an opportunity to
see and experience the most remote and beautiful parts
of Colorado, ranging from Utah-like mesas with interesting
canyons to high alpine valleys surrounded by spectacular
mountains. We travel the “Beauty Road” together
enjoying wildlife sightings of bluebirds, eagles, elk,
deer, antelope and occasionally bear.
Colorado Radical Travel Tours are great for friends,
couples, and families, as a "Rocky Mountain High"
vacation, or to “tune in” before or after
a retreat. Our All Wheel Drive Astro Van holds up to
7 passengers, plus driver. Bring your camera!
MISSION
STATEMENT
Navajo
spiritual philosophy talks about “Walking the
Beauty Road,” learning to live in harmony with
all of nature.
To facilitate your personal experience of beauty, Radical
Travel guides carefully consider each segment of the
route, planning side trips to unique places, with plenty
time to walk through interesting rock formations, with
consideration as to how they “show” at certain
times of day.
This immersion in natural beauty can subtly stimulate
that place in you which is beauty, aligning you to your
own very intimate “Beauty Road.”
We try to plan for a circular route, so that what you
see is always new and fresh in each moment. When possible,
we plan breakfast, lunch or dinner stops at area restaurants,
ending up at one of the local hot springs for a soak
if included in your tour.

MYSTERY TOUR
The most pleasurable and spontaneous way to experience
a back country tour is to let your guides select the
route. This frees you from pre-conceived notions and
expectations, leaving the mind open to the present moment,
a pre-requisite to the stimulation of your own inner
beauty and appreciation.
CUSTOM TOURS
As always, your preferences will guide us. You may already
have a destination in mind that we can facilitate in
a creative and fun way.
*NOTE: High mountain passes are usually
clear of snow from May 25 through November 1. Other
destinations can usually be traveled year-round.
